Godzilla Minus Zero director would “probably say yes” if Toho offered him a third film
Godzilla Minus Zero’s helmer Takashi Yamazaki would gladly return for additional kaiju excitement if Toho extended another invite to him.
The forthcoming movie – a sequel to the Academy Award-winning Godzilla Minus One – presents the menacing King Ghidorah and revisits the Shikishima family, and, although it hasn’t yet premiered in cinemas, it has launched to outstanding critiques.
“Since I was a young child, I have been an enormous Godzilla enthusiast, and I aimed high with Godzilla Minus Zero,” Yamazaki disclosed to SFX magazine in the most recent edition. “[These films] represent significant milestones, reflecting on my journey so far. However, that doesn’t imply I would decline a chance to contribute to another Godzilla project. If Toho approached me again to delve deeper into this universe, I would likely accept.”
“Nonetheless, if this were my final Godzilla installment, I would be quite content with our accomplishments,” he went on. “I am immensely thankful to Toho for entrusting me with their creation. I feel fortunate that I was a Godzilla admirer, as that has allowed me to undertake this project.”
Our very own Godzilla Minus Zero review grants the film 4.5 stars, and our conclusion states: “With heart-wrenching human narratives and earth-shaking kaiju sequences, Godzilla Minus Zero elevates the game in every aspect compared to its predecessor – and is undoubtedly one of the finest films of the year.”
The release is set for November 6. For additional information, explore our guide to all the most thrilling forthcoming films for everything else worth seeing this year.
