Nearly two minutes of video from what seems to be a revitalization of the original Persona has surfaced online.
The snippet, which apparently gives the remake the subtitle Be Your True Mind, was posted on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit. It was uploaded to a file-sharing platform Gofile on 31st October with a Japanese filename that translates to “Megami Ibunroku Persona Remake”.

Curiously, the video resembles Atlus’ latest titles significantly. It showcases elegant menus and offers a brief glimpse of combat that closely relates to Persona 5 and Persona 3 Reload. There is also a short social link cutscene depicted in a markedly different, almost graphic novel aesthetic.
Enthusiasts sifting through the footage believe they have encountered various elements that support its authenticity. These entail what appears to be Unreal Engine debug information in the upper left corner during combat (Atlus transitioned to Unreal Engine for Persona 3 Reload), a fresh remix of the original PlayStation game’s Pandora theme, and the main character being identified as “Boy With Earring,” which aligns with his designation in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.
Atlus has yet to confirm a Persona 1 remake, and we cannot authenticate the footage, so regard all of this with the usual caution.
How do you tackle an issue like Persona 4? At Gamescom, we conversed with series director Kazuhisa Wada regarding the Persona 4 Remake, and inquired about Atlus’ strategy towards the original script for the remake.
