Rings of Power showrunners say it “hits its stride” in season 3 despite divisive fan response

The Rings of Power showrunner Patrick McKay has contemplated the polarizing fan sentiments towards the initial two seasons – and how the Lord of the Rings series is becoming more established as season 3 unfolds.
“We would be poor at our roles if we didn’t pay attention to what individuals think of it, but that doesn’t imply that they’re suddenly in charge,” McKay shared with SFX magazine in the most recent issue.
“We heed what individuals express, and we desire for people to appreciate it, but we are our sternest critics. What succeeds and what does not, we will adapt from. We’re growing more assured in our narrative skills, and in season three, we sense the show has found its rhythm.”
Being one of the priciest series ever produced, Rings of Power explores Middle-earth’s Second Age to depict Sauron’s ascent to authority.
The first two seasons received favorable critiques (84 and 85% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes), yet didn’t always resonate with audiences – with some indicating it deviated too significantly from the essence of J.R.R. Tolkien’s literature. The forthcoming “orc with an arc” may not sway them, but the latest trailer showcases numerous Middle-earth staples, including Sauron battling the Balrog.
Nevertheless, The Rings of Power season 3 initial reactions have shown overwhelmingly positive as we near November’s launch.
The Rings of Power season 3 will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting November 11.
