Video: I Built the PS1 LEGO Set, and Nearly Lost My Mind
Extremely nervous

Recently, PlayStation sent me the PS1 LEGO set, consisting of an impressive 1,911 components. I’ve never really constructed a large LEGO set before; in fact, the last time I engaged with LEGO was probably creating some lousy house during elementary school, over 20 years ago.
This LEGO set accurately replicates the console from 1994, featuring a fully functional controller without an analogue stick and a lid that opens to unveil two sliding dioramas of Ape Escape and Gran Turismo.
As a completed product, I can admire the careful attention to detail, with functional hinges and LEGO pieces redesigned to resemble controller ports as well as the power port situated at the rear. This piece will look fantastic on any shelf.
The challenge, at least for me, is that I discovered I dislike assembling LEGO. This set required me more than seven hours to finish, accompanied by a thick instruction booklet filled with 422 intricate steps.
I comprehend the allure: a meticulous and unhurried endeavor where seemingly disorganized LEGO pieces gradually begin to fit together, uncovering an intricate ornament that you crafted. The drawback is, it’s simply not suited for me. My back aches from bending over my desk, my fingers are too clumsy for some of the tiny LEGOs, and I just lack the endurance.
You can view a complete video of my plunge into LEGO chaos over on the Push Square YouTube channel, which I had a great time producing (the video, not the LEGO). Be sure to like and subscribe while you’re there!
Are you a fan of LEGO? Does this PS1 LEGO set pique your interest? Grab your instruction manual and drop down to the comments to inform me!
