‘It Hasn’t Made Any Difference’: Gears of War PS5 Cancellation Fails to Boost Xbox
“Actually, it continues to deteriorate”

During its summer livestream earlier this year, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma made a significant fuss regarding her company’s return to console exclusivity.
Numerous first-party titles, including Halo: Campaign Evolved, were launched on the PS5 under the previous leadership of Phil Spencer.
However, the new administration opted to limit titles such as Gears of War: E-Day and next year’s Clockwork Revolution exclusively to PC and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
We are aware that The Coalition’s celebrated third-person shooter was intended for the PS5, as Microsoft inadvertently uploaded a trailer confirming the same. The title was also approved for release on Sony’s platform, and an “almost complete” version exists on a hard drive somewhere.

However, is the strategy yielding success for Microsoft?
In the wake of an unimpressive financial report for Xbox – which showed its sales declining once more – The Game Business indicates that Gears of War’s exclusivity “hasn’t influenced” the brand.
In the UK, hardware sales dropped by 22% during its launch month of October, and Circana’s Mat Piscatella notes that conditions are only worsening in the US.
Piscatella elaborated:
“Stating that Gears will be exclusive hasn’t altered the hardware trend in any way. Actually, it continues to deteriorate.
Everything they’re doing seems to garner Twitter likes from the most enthusiastic segment of their fan base, but beyond that, regarding actual outcomes, I’m not observing anything at the moment. And I’m searching thoroughly.
And Gears is a stunning game. That is a quintessential Gears of War title. But by making it exclusive, you undermine its potential as a standalone title in order to enhance your platform,”
