PlayStation creator Bungie has verified that it will probably require until the initial months of 2028 to finalize the unvaulting procedure of previous Destiny 2 elements it recently vowed to revive.
A fresh community update article reveals an anticipated schedule for the content unvaulting, with the studio currently in the pre-production phase. It plans to remain at this stage until January or February of next year, thereafter moving into full production for about 12 months, aiming to conclude by early 2028. “It’s an extensive amount of content,” stated Bungie.
At present, it is strategizing to reintroduce the following content:
- Red War, Forsaken, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind storylines
- Strikes from the aforementioned releases
- Raids and Raid Lairs from the aforementioned releases
- Menagerie Activity with refreshed rewards
Once it has accomplished the unvaulting procedure for the content listed above, it has compiled a set of “stretch goals” it will also take under advisement. These objectives include open-world destinations, seasonal events, weapon enhancements for raids and raid lairs, and PvP arenas.
Here is Bungie’s progress tracker, illustrating that it is currently in pre-production and outlining future developments:
The developer asserts it is presently “on schedule” to deliver the unvaulted content according to the outlined timeline.
In the interim, Bungie has a multitude of additional Destiny 2 content and updates on the horizon. It hints at a “Destiny 2 celebration” focused on the community that played a role in its revival, one that “delivers new updates for everyone to relish. More information forthcoming!”
The team also discusses “Destiny Legacy,” where Bungie expresses its intention to cater to the “complete experience” for gamers. Some enthusiasts speculate that this might resemble a Destiny Classic version, akin to World of Warcraft Classic, where the original iteration of the game is revived for play.
