Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Switch 2 exhibits significantly higher input delay compared to PS5, potentially placing Nintendo gamers at a disadvantage in multiplayer matches.
Digital Foundry’s technical assessment recorded multiplayer latency at 81ms when docked and an average of 100ms in handheld mode, contrasted with 49ms on PS5. The tests utilized wireless controllers on both platforms (a Switch 2 Pro Controller and a DualSense), with portable outcomes varying from 83ms at best to 125ms at the least.

Digital Foundry remarked that “responsiveness here simply isn’t as proficient as on other consoles,” and characterized the delay in handheld mode as “actually harmful to performance” (thanks, IGN).
Aside from the delay, Digital Foundry holds a predominantly favorable view of the port. Multiplayer generally operates at 60fps, and if your television accommodates VRR, you’ll observe the drops less frequently. The campaign is limited to 30fps and features dynamic resolution.
When docked with DLSS enabled, the game aims for 900p, though Digital Foundry noted instances of it dropping to 450p during more chaotic scenes, such as the Paris vehicle chase. In handheld mode, the goal is 720p, with reductions to 360p.
It has been 13 years since a Call of Duty title was last available on Nintendo hardware, with Ghosts on Wii U released in 2013. The series’ reappearance is attributed to a 10-year agreement that Microsoft proposed to Nintendo while pursuing regulatory approval for its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Yesterday, we reported that Activision has expressed condolences to the families affected by the Itaewon crowd disaster and confirmed its intention to remove actual footage of the tragedy from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
