Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive Brings the Hit Webtoon to PS5 Next Week

The release timetable for November is beginning to take shape, and NetMarble has discreetly included yet another title to the agenda: its action RPG interpretation of the popular Korean webtoon, Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive.

Currently available on PC, this is a reimagining of the source material – complete with some extra scenarios for good measure. It will launch on 3rd November.

While you might be excused for anticipating a free-to-play gacha title here, this is, in fact, a premium release, devoid of microtransactions or live service features. (Upon reviewing the Xbox store page, there are a few minor DLC packages available apart from the main game.)

The game can be experienced solo or in cooperative mode, though it’s worth mentioning that the initial wave of evaluations – released last year – were harsh.

Gaming Bolt assigned it a 4/10, remarking: “Netmarble’s action RPG is a poorly executed adaptation of the cherished manhwa and provides a dreadful, monotonous experience otherwise.”

Going through its critique, one key fault pointed out is that players don’t actually get to engage with many of the memorable moments from the original material; it simply defaults to the manhwa for those scenes. I’m not certain that this is something that could be easily addressed with updates.

However, since it has been a year since the PC version was released, I would hope for the title to be somewhat more refined on the PS5. Whether this will be sufficient – well, we shall discover next week.
