Ah, October, also referred to as the month preceding GTA 6.

Indeed, it was an exceptionally hectic 31 days for new PS5 launches, following an equally frenzied September — and this will certainly make the current Game of the Month poll even more captivating.

October’s most prominent title arguably debuted just a few days ago: Phantom Blade Zero, the PS5 console exclusive that had been dazzling observers for years with its gameplay trailers, finally released on the 29th.

The Chinese action title received remarkably high review ratings, and it appears to have resonated well with enthusiasts of the genre.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 successfully presented what many are labeling the best campaign in the series for years, and Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse revitalized Konami’s legendary franchise with great flair.

Other highlights included the astonishing Star Wars: Galactic Racer — an excellent racing title that’s been received much better than anyone anticipated — and Final Fantasy Resonance, which turned out to be a fantastic nod to the property’s classic JRPG heritage.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve deserves recognition too; another extremely well-received release, and potentially the most captivating Ace Combat title of the modern era.

Then there’s the more contentious content that some of you are likely to support: both Stupid Never Dies and Hellraiser: Revival found it challenging to win over critics, but they represent the kind of experiences that if you appreciate, you likely really appreciate.
