Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the 2026 reimagining of Black Flag, has emerged as a pivotal success both critically and commercially by virtually every standard, but Ubisoft states it has completed its remaking of classic Assassin’s Creed titles for the time being.
In Ubisoft’s Fall 2026 update concerning the Assassin’s Creed franchise, the studio presents a summary of the current Assassin’s Creed titles in progress. No new titles are disclosed, of course, but we do receive updates on forthcoming Assassin’s Creed games such as the multiplayer-oriented Codename Invictus, which Ubisoft mentions is still underway and “progressing in an exhilarating direction that better embodies” essential Assassin’s Creed tenets “while remaining faithful to its multiplayer objectives.”
Meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, the grimmer, witchcraft-themed upcoming primary installment in the series, is “making consistent advancement” although “there is still effort required,” states Ubisoft. “The team continues to concentrate on realizing the distinct vision at the core of this endeavor, and we’ll announce our next significant update in 2027.”
Now, what isn’t underway is another Assassin’s Creed remake, Ubisoft has affirmed. While the studio is “extremely proud of what the Resynced team created and how positively it was embraced,” they are not planning any additional remakes at this time. “Our teams are already concentrating on the next installment of Assassin’s Creed titles, including projects you haven’t been informed about yet, featuring fresh environments and narratives,” the Ubisoft blog states.
As some of the classic Assassin’s Creed titles are nearing 20 years of age, I believe there is merit in remastering or recreating them so they aren’t entirely forgotten. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood in particular is one title I’d be excited to see remade for contemporary hardware, and fortunately, Ubisoft indicates it isn’t finished with remakes indefinitely. “Like many of you, we cherish the notion of revisiting our classic games, and we’ll continue to seek opportunities to revitalize older titles,” it states. “That door remains ajar because, after all… Nothing is true, everything is permitted.
