As will come as very little astonishment to anyone aware of the ever-diminishing time remaining in the ‘2026’ timeframe, FromSoftware has today revealed that its Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods, will not be debuting as initially intended this year, but is instead being deferred to 2027.
The studio did not provide a specific new release date, but confirmed that it is taking additional time “for final modifications to game mechanics and balancing.”
The complete delay announcement was posted on the developer’s social media platforms earlier today, where it expressed apologies to all those who have been patiently anticipating the launch ever since it was first announced during the Switch 2 reveal Direct last year.
Here is FromSoft’s message in its entirety:
While development of ‘The Duskbloods’ is at the final tuning stage, we have made the choice to shift the launch timeframe to 2027.
We apologize to gamers who have been graciously waiting for this title to release and thank you for your understanding and backing.
During the network test, we observed considerable interest in the fundamental principles of the game, including combat dynamics, strategic depth, and player creativity. To further refine these elements, we have decided to adjust the launch, allowing time for final modifications to game mechanics and balancing.
So no, not all that unexpected (given it’s nearly November already and we haven’t heard a word since the network test), but it’s still disappointing to discover that we have to wait a bit longer. Hey, hopefully the added refinement will result in a superior launch.
The game’s first network test back in August was quite disastrous, all things considered, with frequent crashes and numerous players unable to experience the game at all. Things were better in the subsequent tests, and we ended up having a rather enjoyable time with it.
