Phantom Blade Zero has officially launched, and has made a significant impact as one of the most-played Steam titles of the year based on concurrent player counts.
The highly anticipated action RPG from S-Game has achieved a Metacritic rating that ranks it among the best games of 2026, with the title also nominated for Ultimate Game of the Year at The Golden Joystick Awards 2026. Furthermore, Alinea Analytics has forecasted that Phantom Blade Zero has already surpassed a million copies sold on PC and PS5 even before its official release, setting it up for an impressive launch day. Additionally, being one of the final significant debuts before the arrival of GTA 6, it appears to have made a substantial impact already.
Currently on Steam, at the time this was written (via SteamDB), Phantom Blade Zero has reached a peak of 595,711 concurrent players today following its debut roughly 10 hours ago. This figure has fluctuated several times during the course of writing, but it is clear that well over half a million gamers have engaged with S-Game’s Wuxia action title.
This places it behind only Palworld 1.0 for the largest launch of 2026 to date. More impressively, it’s secured a spot in the top 20 largest games of all time on Steam in terms of concurrent player peaks, surpassing titles such as Hollow Knight: Silksong, Slay the Spire 2, and Terraria.
Based on historical Steam peak data, it is common for a game to achieve its highest peak the Sunday following its release, meaning there remains the potential for Phantom Blade Zero to become one of the all-time biggest Steam launches – even more so than it is already.
