Marvel fans want to see “a proper redemption arc” for Ultron in VisionQuest, but debate whether it’s a good idea
The newest Marvel television series, VisionQuest, has reintroduced the nefarious Ultron – and enthusiasts desire to witness his redemption.
This may be surprising following Age of Ultron, however, the series has transformed Ultron into an unwilling paternal figure for Vision (and a grandfather figure for Tommy Shepherd), indicating that we’re observing entirely new facets of the killing machine.
“Truly hoping for a genuine redemption storyline concluding for Ultron that allows him to keep living,” remarked one fan on Reddit, which ignited a conversation.
“If this series doesn’t conclude with Ultron at the Louvre, we will protest,” remarked another, while yet another said: “Lmao imagine Ultron enduring it all just to ultimately spend forever appreciating exquisite art in Paris. The Avengers would be out battling cosmic dangers while he’s disputing with tourists over Renaissance masterpieces. That truly is the retirement storyline he merits.”
“I do sort of sense it’s progressing toward a redemption storyline – not a complete ‘I’m a hero now’ arc, but I believe he will be the one to confront Jocasta. However, I doubt he’ll make it through the series,” speculates another.
“I realized he was to be an unwilling hero when Jocasta revealed the nanobot, and his reaction was ‘You want to control them.’ Ultron could be many things, but I’m not sure this version would genuinely wish to control anyone. It would feel very in line with his character to simply oppose that,” posits another individual.
“It appears to be building toward a scenario where Ultron redeems himself by turning against Jocasta to rescue Vision, Tommy, or both,” comments yet another.
