I’ve been covering MMOs for 13 years, and this is by far the most disgusting grind I’ve ever seen

In January 2023, an Old School RuneScape enthusiast made history by soaring to 200 million proficiency in the MMO’s challenging Agility skill in less than a minute by redeeming eight years worth of accrued minigame tickets. It was unparalleled – a ‘witness it to believe it’ instance, akin to observing someone topple a series of dominoes as vast and intricate as the Taj Mahal.
On October 16, 2026, another OSRS player, Vollshtandig, achieved 200 million Agility proficiency following a 3,475-hour effort that is somehow even more daunting.
A few months earlier, Vollshtandig revealed his ambition to attain 200 million proficiency in every skill – a feat that only 73 individuals have accomplished in OSRS’s history, or merely 60 if you consider the newly introduced skill Sailing – by focusing on them individually. Once he selects a new skill, he cannot gain experience in any other until he achieves max proficiency in that skill. It is important to note that to attain the maximum level in a skill requires only about 13 million XP. The remainder is purely for prestige.
Vollshtandig commenced with Agility, which is mainly utilized for gaining access to shortcuts throughout the game realm, and is chiefly developed by navigating courses with straightforward click-to-pass challenges. Agility has improved over time and has its admirers, but numerous players still resent training it due to the limited material rewards associated with many of the most efficient techniques; these strategies are monotonous even by OSRS standards, and it’s a relatively sluggish skill to enhance even at peak efficiency.
In spite of all this, according to the in-game account tracker displayed during a recent stream, Vollshtandig dedicated 3,475 hours clicking on virtual obstacle courses and nothing else. This seems, to me, significantly more challenging than maxing a skill while simultaneously enjoying the broader game during training breaks.
The official high scores from developer Jagex confirm that Vollshtandig’s account was the 224th to achieve 200 million Agility proficiency.
