GDC Festival of Gaming 2027 moves to four-day format to “create a higher quality, more focused and valuable experience”
“We’re focusing our programming and options during the periods when the community is most engaged,” declare organisers
GDC Festival of Gaming will transition to a four-day structure for its 2027 edition, occurring Monday through Thursday, March 1 to March 4.
Organisers mentioned that this alteration is “a purposeful move toward crafting a superior, more streamlined and worthwhile experience” for participants.
“After analyzing the data and heeding our community’s feedback, we’re focusing our programming and options during the times when the community is most engaged, while facilitating attendees to balance their presence at GDC with their professional and personal responsibilities.”
“In 2027, anticipate robust conference programming, larger session spaces, additional hands-on workshops, interactive activities, and broadened networking opportunities across the four days.”
The new Business Hall at Moscone West and all conference programming will be accessible throughout the four days. Festival Hall at Moscone South will function from Tuesday to Thursday.
The introduction of the Business Hall was revealed earlier this year, alongside new passes, improvements to established programming such as the GDC Summit, and other timetable updates for 2027.
“We’re constantly examining how GDC can better cater to the game industry, and heeding our community is an essential aspect of that,” GDC VP of content strategy Mark DeLoura earlier explained to GamesIndustry.biz.
“Following the introduction of the Festival of Gaming and implementing considerable modifications to the GDC experience in 2026, it was particularly vital that we closely attended to what succeeded, what could improve, and how individuals wish to engage in GDC moving forward.”
DeLoura further stated: “GDC 2027 aims to provide individuals with more options regarding their involvement in the event, ensuring the week aligns better with how the industry engages with GDC today. The adjustments aim to enhance accessibility, making it simpler to establish meaningful connections and achieve your objectives at GDC.”
Yesterday, the Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA) announced it will be open for submissions from publishers and developers for the very first time.
