At various intervals throughout this year, we’ve examined the top 10 Xbox backwards compatibility appeals (following 350,000 and 750,000 votes) according to the unofficial Xbox Game Preservation site, a resource that we know the Xbox team has noticed in the past.
As we approach the year’s end, there are over 900,000 votes on the site for new backwards compatible games, with new categories emerging based on factors like indie titles.
It should also be highlighted that Xbox has revealed PC backwards compatibility since our last discussion on these requests, thus creating a new segment for those as well. Currently, these appear to be the most probable additions to backwards compatibility, although it’s possible that some console titles may also become available as a result.
The original Xbox roster hasn’t altered at all since our last update back in July, standing as the ultimate compilation of original Xbox games that voters wish to enjoy on their contemporary consoles.
- The Simpsons: Hit & Run
- Sonic Heroes
- Jet Set Radio Future
- Need for Speed: Underground 2
- Shadow The Hedgehog
- Def Jam: Fight for NY
- Sonic Riders
- Spider-Man 2
- Ultimate Spider-Man
- Burnout 3: Takedown
The Xbox 360 compilation remains heavily led by Skylanders titles, while Transformers and a few other games round out the list. At this juncture, both the original Xbox and Xbox 360 requests hardly seem to be changing at all.
- Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure
- Skylanders: Giants
- Skylanders: Swap Force
- Skylanders: Trap Team
- Skylanders: SuperChargers
- Skylanders: Imaginators
- Transformers: War for Cybertron
- Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
- Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
- Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005)
The “Non-Franchise” list has indeed seen some alterations,
