Shenmue 3 Revival Postponed, as PS5 Re-Release Is Delayed to Early 2027

We Shenmue enthusiasts are quite familiar with the art of patience, so it’s not particularly shocking to witness the delay of Shenmue 3 Enhanced.
The PS5 re-release of Ys Net’s sequel – distributed by ININ – was initially scheduled for release in 2026. However, as the months have unfolded, a shift to 2027 has always appeared unavoidable.
Confirmation has now arrived via a newsletter, as highlighted by the fansite Shenmue Dojo.
A message states:
“We fully recognize that you’re anxiously anticipating the opportunity to witness Ryo flourish like never before, for the first occasion on several contemporary consoles. Development is taking the necessary time to ensure everything is perfected, and we’re making significant strides while finalizing the remaining details. More information will be available soon, and we are excited for this launch in early 2027!”

The language implies that we won’t be kept waiting too long for this edition, which features several enhancements over the PS4 original, including an optional stamina feature and a redesigned camera.
I went ahead and pre-ordered the expensive Collector’s Edition for this, as I’m quite the Shenmue fan – yet I genuinely don’t mind the wait.
I prefer ININ to ensure the release is flawless rather than hurrying it to market, so I hope the team takes all the time required.
