PS6 Costs $200 Less to Make Than Xbox Helix, Snoop Claims
But how significant will it be?

Following speculations that Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Helix could demand as much as $1,800, notable hardware analyst KeplerL2 states the PS6 presently costs Sony approximately $200 less to produce.
Given the existing trends, that figure may alter, but it has always been anticipated that Sony’s new system would be more economical and streamlined compared to its competitor’s latest model.
Initially, it was thought that PlayStation was crafting its next-gen console with cost-effectiveness in mind, but AI-driven shortages in components have disrupted the tech landscape. Even the aging PS5 has seen its costs skyrocket over the past year.

KeplerL2 recently mentioned that the PS6’s RAM and SSD alone total $680, and that doesn’t include other vital components such as the GPU, CPU, and more.
Traditionally, a $200 price advantage would be incredibly significant in the console market, but if we are comparing a $1,800 Xbox Helix to a $1,600 PS6, I’m uncertain how much difference it would yield. Both systems are likely going to be beyond the reach of the average buyer.
I suppose this also presumes Microsoft won’t subsidize its console. Both could potentially be available at the same price if Xbox absorbs some of the expenses, although considering its delicate financial standing, that seems improbable. Sony has indicated it won’t finance hardware any longer.
One intriguing twist here is that Xbox may postpone launching its new console until 2028, opting instead for a new handheld in 2027. This is according to a report from Fortune earlier this week.
It is generally anticipated that Sony will enter the market with both its PS6 console and a corresponding handheld in 2027, but how many units it will manage to sell in the current economic climate remains uncertain.
