Feature: Is Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.5 Worth Returning to Night City For?
CD Projekt Red astonished everyone when it proclaimed that a significant new Cyberpunk 2077 update would be launched around the same timeframe as the Edgerunners 2 anime.
While some enthusiasts might have anticipated a minor surprise to coincide with the show, the magnitude of Patch 2.5 is rather astonishing — it’s considerably larger than it ever needed to be.
I’m not voicing any complaints, however. Frequent readers will recognize that I’ll seize any opportunity to explore Night City again.
But is Patch 2.5 deserving of a return? That’s the inquiry I’ll strive to address in this Hands On piece, as the current release schedule is so frenzied that not everyone will have the leisure to focus on older titles.
The New Missions

Patch 2.5 includes not one, but two new missions to complete. And they are definitely not the type of trivial tasks that one might expect from a complimentary update.
V’s voice actors have returned for both of these assignments; the narratives aren’t merely a collage of recycled lines and text-driven storytelling.
The first of these missions, named Clampdown, is the standout. It directly connects to Edgerunners 2 by featuring V collaborating with one of the new season’s principal characters, King.
Unfortunately, you won’t see the big fella in action, but he communicates with you throughout the mission via comms. It’s a high-stakes task where V is required to liberate King’s associate from jail, and it unfolds in Night City’s extensive prison complex, which isn’t utilized elsewhere in the game.
It’s a robust 20 to 30-minute mission, well-paced with a blend of sharp dialogue and explosive action against the police. Moreover, you acquire some really stylish clothing from it, along with a potent new firearm.
The second mission is more extended and ultimately a bit more forgettable, yet it remains quite engaging.
