Here’s a recap of what the reviewers have commented on regarding this new live-action movie:
Street Fighter Movie (2026) – Critic Review Round Up
“Kitao Sakurai doesn’t consistently manage to coordinate his enthusiastic cast and chaotic approach to the film’s mix of action and comedy, with an excessive number of characters attached to a too-slim storyline. Nevertheless, Street Fighter aims to deliver as many hits as possible before the round timer expires. Even with numerous misses, the successful ones strike hard.”
“For better or worse, Street Fighter 2026 seems to be directly following the path of Street Fighter 1994. It’s goofy, it’s absurd, it’s ludicrous, and most critically, it recognizes all of this while having a blast. The movie shines brightest during those adrenaline-pumping fights and the surprisingly stunning and under-publicized animated segments. Unfortunately, to reach those highlights, one must endure a significant amount of exposition and tedious character struggles (at least when Ryu is not present on screen).
