The 2027 Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA) will be welcoming entries from publishers and developers for the very first time.
Games launched on PC or console from January 1 to December 31, 2026, are qualified. Titles must be submitted for evaluation.
GDCA 2027 imposes no entry fees, and the deadline for submissions is November 1, 2026.
In the past, the GDCA operated using a nomination-based voting framework via the International Choice Awards Network (ICAN), an exclusive panel consisting of over 500 creators, developers, and industry professionals.
Additionally, two new award categories have been added: Best Game Launch and Best Gaming Tech.
Victors will be revealed at the 2027 GDCA ceremony on Tuesday, March 2 during the GDC Festival of Gaming.
Earlier this year, the GDC Festival of Gaming declared further modifications for 2027, featuring a new Business Hall at Moscone West.
Other enhancements comprise three new passes, specialized options for indie developers and start-ups, and an updated event timetable.
“GDC 2027 aims to offer attendees more options in how they engage at the show, allowing the week to better align with how the industry utilizes GDC today,” GDC VP of content strategy Mark DeLoura previously informed GamesIndustry.biz.
“The adjustments focus on enhancing accessibility, simplifying the process of forming meaningful connections, and achieving the goals you set out to accomplish at GDC.”
