“A mission based co-op PvE for 1-4 players”
You may remember a game called “Jump Ship” that was highlighted in a couple of old Xbox showcases – a co-op FPS with impressive visuals and seemingly a lot of potential – and it’s actually coming out on Xbox later this week!
It’s got a different name now though. Jump Space is what they’re calling it, and it’ll be launching in early access form (as part of the Xbox “Game Preview” program) on September 19th, 2025.
Here’s a nice overview of what to expect from it:
So, as mentioned, this is a co-op FPS that’s based around PvE rather than PvP, with the goal being to “explore, upgrade, and survive intense encounters in deep space” with a crew of 1-4 players. Most of it seems to take place on-foot, but there are some space combat elements as well. Keep in mind that crossplay isn’t part of the game right now though – it’s something they hope but can’t promise to add in the future.
With Jump Space launching in early access and being an indie game made by a small team, they’ve set a very reasonable price of just $19.99 across Steam and Xbox on day one. Also, it’s actually an Xbox console exclusive for now, with the team advising that a PS5 version is likely in the future but not officially planned for the moment.
We’re expecting Jump Space to prove popular when it finally lands on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (as well as PC) this Friday, so we’ll leave you with a bunch more details along with some screenshots down below.
Jump Space (formerly Jump Ship) is a mission based co-op PvE for up to 4 players, where you are the crew of a spaceship. Transition seamlessly from crewing the ship to on-foot exploration and space walks. Engage in intense battles both on the ground and in space, and always keep your ship upgraded and intact. Teamwork is key for survival and victory. We love co-op games, and we love space. Jump Space is our attempt to make both work together.
- Jump across the universe – Select from a variety of hand crafted missions with random elements. No two runs will be exactly the same.
- Seamlessly go on and off ship – Once you’ve jumped with your ship, you can switch seamlessly between operating your ship, space walking and on-foot planetary exploration, it just works.
- Upgrade, maintain, repair – Manage your ship as you scavenge for parts to upgrade or repair it, and adapt it to fit your needs.
- Fly with a crew, or go solo – Jump Space is best enjoyed with friends, but solo adventurers are welcome too.
