Half a year in

Well folks, June is nearing its conclusion here, which indicates we’re almost at the midpoint for 2025! It’s been a extremely hectic beginning to the year in gaming – especially on the Xbox front where several first-party games and new Game Pass additions have illuminated our screens over the past six months.

Thus, we’re checking in to find out what your GOTY contenders are so far for 2025! As we mention, there are numerous competitors already – including Avowed, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Oblivion Remastered, DOOM: The Dark Ages and more. Most of these were also on Xbox Game Pass, which is a wonderful bonus!

Up to now, we’ve awarded only one 10/10 here at Pure Xbox in 2025; that being Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – which we suspect will appear on many of your GOTY lists this year. Dropping down to the 9/10 category, we’ve awarded five of those; for KCD2, Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection, Split Fiction, South of Midnight and the latest DOOM.

Of course, there are numerous significant titles arriving on Xbox in the upcoming six months, but for now – what’s your Game of the Year for 2025 thus far? Which Xbox game from the past six months are you unable to stop discussing? We’ve compiled the leading candidates into a poll below, but feel free to mention in the comments (and hit the “other” button) if your choice isn’t listed!

Ben is a News Writer at Pure Xbox, and enjoys action, racing, and direct shooting in any Xbox game he can get his hands on. When he’s not gripping an Xbox controller as if his life depends on it, Ben spends his leisure time enjoying music that’s far too dated for him, watching football on the television, and likely dining somewhere.
