“Carve an existence, nurture a village and establish a lasting legacy”

Tomorrow’s “Next Week on Xbox” round-up is set to include Sengoku Dynasty—an open-world survival RPG that’s already spent some time on PC and will land on Xbox Series X|S come August 21st.
From everything we’ve seen, it very closely mirrors 2021’s Medieval Dynasty, which isn’t surprising since it’s published by the same label, Toplitz Productions. Development duties, however, sit with the fledgling team at Superkami Games.
In Sengoku Dynasty you are told to “craft a life, grow a settlement and found a dynasty.” You can assume the role of Leader, Craftsman, Warrior, or Monk before setting out to “craft, construct, battle and govern” in what is billed as the “definitive feudal Japan adventure.” Promising, yes?
The critical response is not quite so glowing, mind you. At the moment Sengoku Dynasty enjoys “mostly positive” user feedback on Steam, paired with a Metacritic average of 72. Players laud its ambition, laundry-list of activities and expansive open world, yet note that certain gameplay mechanics feel half-baked and the PC build can struggle for performance. It remains to be seen how the Xbox Series machines will cope. Multiplayer sessions on PC are also reportedly plagued by sporadic lag.
Don’t write it off just yet, though; plenty of fans are still enamoured with the experience. Better yet, Xbox owners can jump in at a launch-day price of just £19.99 / $23.99—that figure already factors in a small pre-order markdown. Extra intel plus fresh screenshots await further down.
Forged in the wake of famine and war, this land invites you to build a life, nourish a village and raise an enduring dynasty. Venture forth alone or with friends in seamless co-op to roam a vivid open world. Harvest materials, craft tools, hunt beasts, erect homes, then automate production so your settlement prospers.
Ascend as a formidable leader through the strength of arms or the cunning of commerce. Revel in serene vistas and engage in time-honoured rituals to unravel the mysteries of the divine. Sengoku Dynasty delivers a deep glimpse into medieval Japan: choose the path of Leader, Craftsman, Warrior, or Monk and begin your grand odyssey.
