One Of The ‘Worst Games Ever’ Is Getting Remastered In A Beautiful Collection For Xbox
When nostalgia nudges you toward Bubsy, odds are it’s Bubsy 3D that pops into memory—the 1996 PlayStation platformer that many reviewers and gamers demolished, even labeling it one of the absolute worst releases ever made.
Given that reputation, meet Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection! The anthology is pouncing onto Xbox on 9 September 2025, and—shockingly—the signs indicate it’ll be worth a look when it arrives within the next few weeks.
For starters, the bundle isn’t limited to the infamous Bubsy 3D. Four games (multiple regional builds included) compose the museum:
- Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind (Super Nintendo Entertainment System™, Super Famicom™, SEGA Genesis™)
- Bubsy II (Super Nintendo Entertainment System™, SEGA Genesis™, Game Boy™)
- Bubsy in: Fractured Furry Tales (Atari Jaguar™)
- Bubsy 3D (PlayStation®)
Beyond the base titles, you’ll receive up-rezzed resolution/s, higher framerates, instant save-states, full rewind features, a gallery of hand-scanned artwork, manuals, vintage adverts, documentary-style developer interviews, and an entire sound-track music player. It’s all supervised by Audi Sorlie—self-declared Bubsy World Heavyweight Champion and, some would argue, the planet’s leading authority on the whiskered icon’s catalogue.
Even that maligned Bubsy 3D has been pruned and polished into a “Refurbished Edition,” complete with modern analog stick support—perhaps banishing the “worst game ever” tag at last.
