We’ve previously shared our initial impressions of Oblivion Remastered on Xbox Series X at Pure Xbox, but how does the Series X version compare with the Xbox Series S? It’s time to find out.

Below, you can watch gameplay footage of both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions of Oblivion Remastered, courtesy of Fuzion Xbox Testing on YouTube. This not only showcases the same segment of open-world gameplay on both consoles, but also evaluates frame rates during gameplay. The findings are… largely as expected.

On the Xbox Series X, Oblivion Remastered reportedly operates at a possible native resolution of 1080p-1274p in Quality mode, which is subsequently upscaled to 4K. In Performance mode, a native resolution of 1080p is indicated. Both modes appear to achieve their targeted frame rates of 30FPS and 60FPS on the Series X, for the most part.

For the Xbox Series S, Oblivion Remastered is believed to run at a possible native resolution of 420p-630p, which is then upscaled to 1260p, and it also maintains a solid 30FPS target. Unfortunately, the Xbox Series S version of Oblivion Remastered does not offer a 60FPS option at launch, so 30FPS remains the ceiling.

We anticipate that Digital Foundry will provide confirmed resolutions soon, but this serves as an excellent initial assessment of how Oblivion Remastered performs on both the Xbox Series X and Series S. We will link both videos from Fuzion Xbox Testing below, allowing you to compare the two versions and form your own opinion.

In our view, despite the 30FPS limitation, the Xbox Series S holds up quite well against the Series X! However, we still have a few concerns regarding image stutter and artifacts that we mentioned in our initial impressions…

What do you think about the Xbox Series X and Series S versions of Oblivion Remastered? Share your thoughts below.
