With “Very Positive” feedback on Steam
This past weekend, we showcased the 10+ games launching on Xbox next week (which is now this week!), and the primary title in the thumbnail was Holdfast: Nations at War – so we figured we’d share a bit more about it!
Holdfast: Nations at War initially launched on PC a few years ago and currently holds a “Very Positive” status on Steam based on more than 20,000 user evaluations. The game is a “multiplayer first and third-person shooter set during the grand Napoleonic Era and WW1”, and offers the chance to participate in 75v75 matches within its 150-player servers.
Here are a couple of Holdfast evaluations from players on Steam:
El Chupacabra on Steam: The mechanics are extremely straightforward but highly entertaining. Although the various unit types play similarly, there are numerous options available, and many still feel distinct. While the weapons and attire are quite faithful to history, the gameplay is not. Don’t anticipate a historical simulation with orderly line formations. It’s more akin to utter chaos – but, to be honest, the gameplay is highly enjoyable and therefore excellent.
Vonscheel on Steam: Frankly, this game is exactly what you see online. It’s what I anticipated. Its community, though small, is remarkably friendly and enjoyable. I am very thankful for the game. The developers clearly comprehend their audience, and their audience appreciates the developers.
Overall, the game appears to be quite appealing, as long as you’re not seeking something overly serious! There are numerous exciting features as well – complete crossplay, 27 unique classes, proximity chat, over 100 unlockable items and much more.
Holdfast: Nations at War is set to launch for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on July 9th, 2025. Although we don’t have a price yet (the Xbox Store page isn’t showing anything), based on Steam, we’re anticipating it to be around the $20 range.
Here are additional details and images for Holdfast: Nations at War:
Holdfast: Nations At War is an online multiplayer first and third-person roleplay shooter that prioritizes community involvement. Engage in historic confrontations on land and water fought by the most dominant nations across eras. Rush into battle with more than 150 players per server! Holdfast is more than just a game; the community enriches the experience through numerous role-play elements and proximity voice chat. It unites role-players, regiment (clan) members, casual players, and those just here for the unpredictable humorous moments.
