Welcome to the month of Xbox’s 25th anniversary! Xbox will officially commemorate this milestone on November 15th, but prior to that, we thought we’d take the opportunity to spotlight the very first games that ever launched on Xbox.
To achieve this, we’re revisiting the original compilation of North American Xbox launch titles, which totaled 20 in number. Some titles are clear highlights, such as Halo: Combat Evolved, Fuzion Frenzy, Dead or Alive 3, and Project Gotham Racing, while others are more obscure – Arctic Thunder, Dark Summit, Mad Dash Racing, etc.
Here’s the complete compilation of all 20 launch titles:
- 4×4 Evo 2
- Airforce Delta Storm
- Arctic Thunder
- Cel Damage
- Dark Summit
- Dead or Alive 3
- Fuzion Frenzy
- Halo: Combat Evolved
- Mad Dash Racing
- Madden NFL 2002
- Nascar Heat 2002
- Nascar Thunder 2002
- NFL Fever 2002
- NHL Hitz 2002
- Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee
- Project Gotham Racing
- Shrek
- Test Drive Off-Road: Wide Open
- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2x
- TransWorld Surf
Now, naturally, some of these titles are still accessible today on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, while others have consistently remained exclusive to the original Xbox. The likes of Project Gotham Racing, Shrek, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2x are highly sought-after additions to the Xbox backwards compatibility library, but it seems improbable they’ll ever be included at this point – most likely due to licensing issues.
However, you might not be aware that titles like Cel Damage and Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee are still playable on modern consoles today,
