Fallout 76 Is Officially Getting A Native Xbox Series X|S Version In Early 2026

At last!

During yesterday’s Fallout Day livestream — which featured the revelation of Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition — Bethesda revealed a timeframe for the native Xbox Series X|S edition of Fallout 76.

Scheduled for “early next year”, the Xbox Series X|S enhancement for Fallout 76 “will fully utilize their [current-gen consoles’] performance capabilities”. While the team did not elaborate on the upgrade’s features yet, we anticipate more information will follow in the upcoming months.

“A native edition of Fallout 76 will be arriving on Xbox Series S and X and PlayStation 5 early next year. This enhancement will fully leverage their hardware capabilities.”

Fallout 4‘s current-gen upgrade — which launched last year — we can expect enhancements in resolution and frame rate, and ideally a native version that fully exploits the Xbox Series X|S SSD. The Fallout 4 upgrade also featured a 40FPS mode for 120Hz screens, which would be welcome here with Fallout 76.

What we sincerely hope Bethesda will steer clear of here is a recurrence of Fallout 4’s current-gen debut. The update for Bethesda’s 2015 RPG was delayed and notoriously flawed, before a series of patches aimed to rectify issues. Here’s to hoping next year’s Fallout 76 update is a smoother launch overall.

Will you be diving into this new edition of Fallout 76 upon its release? Share your thoughts on your expectations for the current-gen upgrade below.
