Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream Brings Its Stealth Adventure To Xbox This Week
“Experience an isometric, narrative-driven stealth game”
Over the weekend, we included Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream in our roundup of games “coming to Xbox next week”, and we thought we’d highlight it in a bit more depth today – especially considering it’s out in less than 24 hours’ time!
If you haven’t come across it, Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is an isometric narrative-driven stealth game in which you play as someone called Hanna, embarking on a quest to find her brother (Herman) who has mysteriously disappeared.
Experience an isometric, narrative-driven stealth game set in the stunning city of Eriksholm. When Hanna’s brother, Herman, disappears and the police begin to pursue him, her search sets off a chain of catastrophic events that will not only alter their lives but also the destiny of the entire city. Join your allies, outsmart relentless enemies, and use your cunning to uncover the truth behind Herman’s disappearance — where greater powers are at play than you ever imagined.
The gameplay is said to be “strategic”, featuring various challenges and puzzles, while the world is “inspired by the elegance and grit of early 1900s Scandinavia”. The trailer shows off some pretty nice-looking cinematics as well!
Eriksholm reviews have actually started going live today ahead of the game’s release this Tuesday, and at the moment it has a Metacritic average of 72 for PC based on 9 reviews, and a whopping 90 for PS5 based on 5 reviews.
We’ll leave you with some of those reviews below, and if you’re interested in picking it up, Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream will be available for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on July 15th (although you can’t pre-order it as of yet). We believe the price will be £33.50 / $39.99 – that’s apparently what it’s going to be on PC at least.
The Sixth Axis (10/10)
“Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream deserves to go down as a landmark stealth game. The finely-honed sneaking mechanics are an absolute joy to experience, whilst the absorbing story and immersive world will keep you creeping from beginning to end. The fact that this is River End Games’ first release makes their accomplishment all the more impressive. Quite frankly, I can’t wait to see what the team do next and I’ll be eagerly awaiting the chance to visit Eriksholm again.”
COGConnected (88/100)
“Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream delivers its vision with confidence. It’s clear that River End Games set out to create an immersive, story-driven adventure rooted in a rich, detailed world and they’ve succeeded. The engaging narrative, supported by strong voice acting, adds authenticity and emotional weight to the characters. Every element feels purposeful, from the thoughtful storytelling to the smart use of puzzles and stealth mechanics. Together, these pieces come together to create something truly special.”
GamingBolt (80/100)
“While it won’t give the best stealth titles any competition in the emergent gameplay department, Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is still a great effort. As safe as it can feel at times, it’s held up by stellar art direction, well-rounded characters with strong voice acting, gorgeous environments with a healthy amount of variety, robust stealth and puzzles that require timing and cohesion.”
PC Gamer (77/100)
“Beautiful and stacked with excellent performances, but Eriksholm’s stealth feels too much like being led around by the nose to reach greatness.”
Eurogamer (3/5)
“Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream offers luxurious cutscenes and a focused twist on stealth by remaining intentionally inflexible, but doesn’t quite pull it all together.”
PCGamesN (4/10)
“Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream wants to spin a grand Dickensian tale centered on the familial bond of a street urchin and her brother, but this ambition is betrayed by its lack of emotional stakes. And while its stealth puzzles can be intriguing and challenging at times, thanks to the ability to swap among multiple characters, these largely fail to deviate from the genre’s long-held conventions.”
