Update []:

Kazutaka Kodaka has clarified the conversation surrounding a possible multiplatform launch for The Hundred Line – Last Defense Academy via a recent Bluesky update. In summary, it appears the game will likely stay a console exclusive on Switch for the foreseeable future.

Kodaka mentioned that his earlier post addressed language support, but regarding transitioning the game to different systems, “there are no intentions for it, and the probabilities are very low”.

Original Story: In the creation of The Hundred Line – Last Defense Academy for both the Switch and Windows, it was disclosed that the development team Too Kyo Games had experienced financial difficulties after securing a loan. Later, in our pre-launch discussion with Kazutaka Kodaka and Kotaro Uchikoshi, the former affirmed that “If the game does not perform well, we may be finished”.

Currently, it seems that even after launching, the studio is still facing tough times, with Kodaka indicating that Too Kyo Games remains “on the verge of closing down”. This remark followed a fan’s inquiry regarding how long it might take for The Hundred Line to reach additional gaming platforms.

It’s truly unfortunate, and we are ardently hopeful that Too Kyo Games can navigate through these challenges soon. Those who have experienced The Hundred Line understand just how incredibly ambitious the game is, but if you haven’t yet explored it, make sure to read our comprehensive insights in our review.

We described the game as “a remarkable tactical RPG that effectively highlights the talents of its creators” while commending the “well-crafted and engaging narrative, tactical gameplay, appealing art design, and dedicated voice acting”. Ultimately, we assigned it a distinguished score of 9/10.
