By Return to the Shire this July
Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game will release digitally on the Switch this July and today it’s been confirmed there will also be a physical release arriving on the same date.
This was announced by ‘iam8bit’ and there’ll be a standard retail edition (including a fold-out map and digital soundtrack) and an exclusive edition including a cover sleeve as well as those other mentioned goodies.
The exclusive edition is available to pre-order now for $39.99 from the iam8bit website and the game ships on 29th July 2025.
We went ‘hands on’ with The Shire last year. Here’s what we had to say about it at the time:
“Tales of the Shire wears its food-loving identity on its sleeve and we walked away genuinely surprised by something that didn’t look all that enticing from the outside. You can decorate your Hobbit house, go fishing, and improve relationships with the other Hobbits. It doesn’t feel entirely unique, blending together lots of different elements from other life-sim games, but Tales of the Shire is at least attempting to carve its own identity in the space by focusing on the cooking aspect.”
