Original Story: [Tue 18th Mar, 2025 02:30 GMT]: If you’re a fan of beat ’em ups on the Switch and haven’t yet experienced Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, now could be the perfect moment to try it out.

Maximum Entertainment has revealed that new “free DLC” is on its way featuring two new fighters Jeff and Abore. These characters will be arriving this April, and we will keep you updated when they launch. Here’s a brief overview of each character:

Jeff – “A childhood adversary of the Lee brothers, Jeff trained alongside them in the martial art of Sōsetsuken. However, as his abilities lagged, envy festered. Determined to outshine Billy and Jimmy, Jeff deserted his honorable path and turned to the streets, combining Karate with Sōsetsuken to forge a treacherous, unpredictable combat style.”

Abore – “A towering ex-soldier with a stoic expression, Abore relies on raw strength and unwavering composure. His immense power and endurance raise the question: is he human, or something beyond? The silent fighter offers no answers, only devastating blows.”

This game first launched on the Switch in July 2023 and has since received numerous free updates enhancing the playable character lineup and incorporating online play. You can delve deeper into it in our review here on Nintendo Life. In summary:

“It’s a title overflowing with secrets to discover, twists to encounter, and an abundance of cash grinding and unlocking to engage in.”
