Star Wars: Zero Company will showcase a diverse lineup of characters in the primary squad, including a Mandalorian, a Jedi Padawan, and an astromech droid. Additionally, players will have the freedom to personalize the main character, Hawks. In an interview with GameSpot, Bit Reactor’s creative director, Greg Foertsch, shared that players will have various options to customize Hawks’ appearance, including choices for gender, voice, and species within the Star Wars universe.

“You can experience that character in any way you desire,” Foertsch stated. “Want to modify the species? Go ahead. Interested in changing their voice? You have the option.”

The central theme of Hawks revolves around their backstory as a former Republic officer compelled to assemble a diverse team to confront a formidable enemy while the Clone Wars unfold. While Hawks is crafted to possess enough personality for players to resonate with, Zero Company’s collection of “authored characters” will have unique backstories and characteristics that players can uncover throughout the game. Among these allies is Tell, a Jedi Padawan on a mission to complete her late master’s final assignment, and there will be natural rivalries and tensions among the crew.

Notably, players can strengthen the relationships between the operatives, leading to potent synergy skills that may sway the outcome of battles. “The authored characters offer a great job from the Bit Reactor team in integrating the distinct perspectives you’d anticipate them to hold regarding the galaxy and the Clone Wars, tailored to this specific narrative and adversary your team is facing,” commented Kelsey Sharpe, the creative executive at LucasFilm Games.

“It’s infused with a hint of mystery—the more you know about Star Wars, the richer it becomes. However, even if you’re unfamiliar with Star Wars, watching the trailer reveals how they interact, leading to the realization, ‘This isn’t just a carefree team I expected,’ right?”
