The GTA 6 launch is swiftly nearing, and it promises to be one of the most significant video game launches of all time – so extensive, in fact, that analysts indicate almost one in three gamers is eager to partake in Rockstar’s highly anticipated sixth installment of Grand Theft Auto.
That’s a substantial statistic… one that emerges directly from international market research and consumer behavior consultant Circana, accompanied by insights from seasoned analyst and firm head Mat Piscatella.
To be more exact, it’s 29% – a notable 29% of gamers in the United States, across console and PC platforms, plan to buy GTA 6. This figure establishes Rockstar’s title as the most eagerly awaited video game release in Circana’s tracking history.
“Grand Theft Auto 6 signifies a unique cultural and commercial occasion for the video game sector,” Piscatella states. “Gamers have been anticipating 13 years for a follow-up to Grand Theft Auto 5, and the demand is predicted to expand beyond just software sales, encompassing consoles, peripherals, and gaming subscriptions as consumers gear up for the launch.”

“Numerous consumers yet to transition to a current-generation console may opt to acquire a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series specifically for this title,” Piscatella remarks – and this holds true for those who generally play on PC, too, as Rockstar isn’t set to release GTA 6 on computer storefronts just yet.
In simple terms, it will trigger a significant amount of purchasing and consumption, across both software and hardware sectors.
“As retailers get ready for Black Friday and holiday demand, Grand Theft Auto 6 will be a key catalyst for software sales, hardware upgrades, and tech purchases related to gaming throughout the fourth quarter,” Piscatella concludes. “Its anticipation and appeal further emphasize the increasing impact of video games on the wider entertainment and consumer technology industries.” Indeed, it does.
