A significant upgrade has been implemented in Helldivers 2, introducing new Illuminate opponents, alterations in loadouts and customizations, plus enhancements to the game’s Superstore.
The Helldivers 2 update sets loose a novel invasion from the Illuminate alien faction, featuring more potent and larger enemies. Emerging from the Meridian singularity, the Illuminate are gearing up to battle Super Earth. Arrowhead has revealed in the latest Sony blog that this upgrade includes Stingray, enemy fighter jets delivering air support for the Illuminate. Stingrays can spot players and orchestrate destructive strafing runs. Another new threat is a foe named Fleshmob, which the creator contextualizes as a botched Illuminate experiment and a “Frankenstein’s monster of Voteless parts.”

These are just a taste of the new enemy types that players might meet. The developer insinuates there could be further threats, stating “There have been sightings of other, even larger ships; their abilities are yet to be clear,” suggesting surprises in store for players.
Helldivers 2’s upgrade introduces customization and progress for weaponry. Now, most main weapons can level up through successful mission completion, subsequently unlocking fresh attachments that players can gain using Requisition. This enables weapon customization and modification, like fixing bullet capacity, firing rate, recoil, or battery loading time.
Players may unlock patterns for visual weapon enhancements. Patterns previously associated with Warbonds (Freedom’s Flame, Chemical Agents, Viper Commandos, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds) will be made accessible to players starting May 15; this aligns with the arrival of the new “Masters of Ceremony” Warbond.
The Superstore revamp assures all player-required items are constantly available, resolving the previous issue of players waiting around for rotation of items.
In anticipation of the forthcoming Masters of Ceremony Warbond, Arrowhead has also released a fresh gameplay trailer.
