“Are you eager to witness something interesting?”

Enthusiasts of the cult classic 2015 film Turbo Kid, celebrate! The forthcoming Metroidvania sequel to the dystopian action film is set to arrive on Switch on 5th August 2025.

Our first encounter with Turbo Kid occurred in February 2024, prior to its debut on Steam in April of that year. Now, the suspense is lifted for Switch users as you’ll be able to cruise through the wastelands come next month.

Crafted by Outerminds, Turbo Kid is positioned in a futuristic incarnation of the ’80s, where neon glows may not be entirely positive. The environment has fallen apart; water is scarce and the wasteland is dominated by oppression. So, what’s your move? Grab your BMX and start biking.

Featuring stunning pixel art and an incredible electronic soundtrack from Le Matos, even if you’ve never seen or heard of the film, it’s one to monitor closely. Here’s a summary of what to anticipate:

Key Aspects

Pedal. Slash. Boom. Again. – Reexperience the Metroidvania you should have been raised with. Blaze your way through a mutant-ridden wasteland, enhance your collection of outrageously deadly weapons, and leave behind a path of pixelated carnage—all from the comfort of your reliable BMX.

BMX Warfare – Who needs a steed when you’ve got a bike with flair? Summon your BMX at will to dash across maps, unlock shortcuts, crush foes, or merely perform awesome stunts. It’s the first genuine Metroidvania where two wheels are essential (no need to verify that).

Slice, Shoot, Splash – Machetes? Definitely. Turbo Glove™? Without a doubt. From electric shocks to circular saw blades, your toolkit is brimming with over-the-top annihilation. Slice through adversaries with flair and transform every scene into a vivid explosion of wonderfully twisted pixel blood.

Liberty to Explore, Liberty to Destroy – Set just following the events of the film, carve your way through a distorted realm filled with eccentric characters and unforeseen choices. Who you assist—or harm—will influence your voyage across countless playthroughs.

All Action, No Nonsense – Love narrative? It’s available. Dislike it? Bypass it. We designed Turbo Kid with pure gameplay as the focal point: no unskippable scenes, no extensive dialogues—just quick, fluid action and adaptable storytelling that functions whether you’re exploring or speedrunning.
