Borderlands 4 launched earlier this month on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Nevertheless, Switch 2 users were anticipated to receive the game on October 3. Now, Gearbox Software has postponed the Borderlands 4 Switch 2 version 10 days prior to its release, indicating a requirement for more time for development.

Gearbox announced this on social media, stating that it “did not arrive at this decision lightly.” The statement continues by expressing that Gearbox is “dedicated to ensuring we provide the finest experience for our fans, and the game necessitates extra development and refinement time to achieve that. We aspire to synchronize this release with the addition of cross saves, which we are currently developing and recognize as being crucial. We will inform you all about the new release schedule once our plans are fully revised.”

Greetings, Vault Hunters – We must inform you that the release of Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 is being postponed. We do not take this decision lightly, but are devoted to ensuring we provide the best experience for our fans, and the game requires further development…

The publisher also pointed out that all Borderlands 4 Switch 2 pre-orders will be annulled according to Nintendo’s regulations. Players can request a refund now or wait until Friday, September 26, when they will be processed automatically.

Borderlands 4 received favorable critical evaluations before launch, however, PC users have provided harsh critiques on Steam regarding performance and optimization concerns. Gearbox Studios CEO Randy Pitchford has refuted players’ negative assessments about optimization issues and remained steadfast about it in subsequent days, while also providing tips for enhanced performance on PC and consoles.

Gearbox has already launched a patch targeting the PC stability problems. Pitchford has signaled that a PS5 Pro patch is also in development.
