Recently, we shared the news that developer Masahiro Sakurai successfully participated in the Switch 2 lottery in Japan, earning the opportunity to buy the forthcoming console.

Now, another renowned developer has declared his own triumph, and that is Hideki Kamiya. Known for his work on Resident Evil 2, Bayonetta, and Okami, Kamiya is diligently engaged in creating the Okami Sequel at his new studio Clovers in collaboration with Capcom.

He took to social media to share what he chose to pre-order (the console, Mario Kart World, and a Pro Controller), with a simple remark saying, “That’s quite good…”.

This serves as further evidence that major developers in Japan aren’t simply given Switch 2 consoles like they’re free samples; they have to buy them just like everyone else.

Nonetheless, it may be a hopeful indication that we could eventually see the Okami Sequel. Currently, it’s uncertain which platforms Clovers/Capcom intends to pursue for the launch, but if Kamiya considers the Switch 2 a viable option, then we might be enjoying the follow-up to one of the most remarkable adventure games of all time in the near future.

For now, we look forward to seeing you online in Mario Kart World, Kamiya. Maybe… Probably not, though.
