On PC, consoles to be revealed “at a later time.”

Brace Yourself Games – recognized for titles such as Crypt of the NecroDancer and Cadence of Hyrule – has unveiled its latest musical title Rift of the NecroDancer, which will launch on February 5, 2025, but exclusively on Steam, with console versions coming “at a later time.”

This title was announced for the Switch in 2023 during an Indie Showcase and has subsequently faced some delays. The developer has also experienced layoffs during this period and recently released additional DLC for Crypt of the NecroDancer earlier this year.

In a blog post on the game’s Steam page, the developers mention that “one of the strategies we’re employing to give ourselves a bit more time is separating the Steam launch from the other platforms.” The release for Switch is “still to be determined,” but the game is on track for launch.

The gameplay incorporates various Guitar Hero and Rhythm Heaven-inspired modes where players must assist Cadence in navigating the vibrant world while mending the rifts that have disrupted her life. Here are the key features:

– Rift Mode — A rhythmic battle against waves of monsters emerging from the Rift!
– Mini Game Mode — Help Cadence tackle challenges in the vibrant world through rhythmic mini-games!
– Boss Battles Mode — Defeat powerful bosses using a one-two punch, in sync with the music!
– An original soundtrack by Danny Baranowsky and collaborators!
– Mod support, online leaderboards, and more!

While this game won’t be available until next year, there’s a demo that you can try on PC right now on Steam.

Will you be checking out this game when it launches on Switch early next year? Let us know in the comments.
