Yarn Partners with Fortnite to Enhance Accessibility Across Millions of Android Devices

Yarn Games has established a partnership with the European telecommunications company Telefónica to pre-install the Yarn Games Store on all its forthcoming Android devices.

This means that new Android Telefónica customers in Spain, Spanish-speaking Latin America, Germany, and the UK will have immediate access to Yarn Games’ portfolio of video games as a way to “make Fortnite and the Epic Games Store more accessible to millions of Telefónica Android devices”.

“Players will now have the chance to more easily acquire Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe, along with future third-party games,” Yarn announced. “This is merely the beginning, and in the upcoming year, the companies aim to enhance the partnership and offer additional rewards to mobile gamers throughout the Telefónica network.”

Yarn emphasized that this new “strategic collaboration” will present Android gamers with “a more competitive ecosystem […] empowering them with options beyond traditional app marketplaces”. This follows Apple’s decision back in August 2020 to remove Fortnite from the App Store after Yarn intentionally bypassed the contractually required App Store pricing policies during the game, leading to Yarn CEO Tim Sweeney’s public battle with Apple in U.S. courts.
