By “This will lead to internal re-evaluations”
There’s obviously a lot of chatter taking place today about Xbox raising its prices for consoles, accessories and even games, and according to one analyst, it’s actually “just the beginning” of what we’re going to see in the future.
Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners has explained the reasons behind the Xbox price hike, pointing out that “Sony will be impacted by the same tariffs” and even Nintendo could be forced to raise prices at some point if things take a turn.
Here’s what Ahmad had to say on social media this afternoon:
As you’ve probably seen, it’s the United States that appears to be getting hit particularly badly when it comes to Xbox console pricing, with the Xbox Series S going up by $80 and the Xbox Series X going up by $100.
It remains to be seen if Sony will follow suit later in the year (although the company did just raise PS5 prices in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand), and we’re still waiting to find out if Xbox Game Pass will get a price increase as well. Here’s hoping that won’t be the case and this is the last we hear of price hikes in 2025!
