“The functionality is incredibly flawed at this moment”
The Xbox “Looking For Group” (commonly referred to as L4G) feature was launched a considerable time ago, and regrettably, it has endured persistent spam and bot complications over the years.
For those unfamiliar, L4G enables you to locate fellow gamers to partner with in multiplayer experiences, and the more popular a game is, the greater the likelihood of posts—which also leads to a surge in spam.
In the illustration above, you can observe GTA Online being inundated with a promotion on acquiring in-game currency, with numerous instances like this from accounts lacking Xbox gamerscore and prior interactions.
Here’s a glimpse of the irritation we’ve faced over the last year:
To be fair to Microsoft, we’ve been supervising these L4G entries on GTA Online recently and have noted that many are swiftly eliminated; however, the issue is that new ones keep emerging too rapidly for the system to handle.
It would be reasonable for the Xbox L4G feature to be refined to restrict new accounts moving forward, meaning users would need a minimum amount of gamerscore and account history to post.
As things stand, we struggle to identify any genuine advantage in utilizing L4G for prominent AAA titles. It functions reasonably well for lesser-known games without large communities, but for titles like Minecraft, GTA, and Rainbow Six Siege, you must sift through a significant amount of clutter that detracts from your capacity to truly enjoy the game.
But what about your thoughts? How do you feel about L4G in its current state? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
