Microsoft has also labeled Windows as ‘Xbox PC’

Earlier today, we encountered leaked photos of the highly-anticipated Xbox 2025 handheld device – which now appears quite legitimate with real images of the unit circulating online. Alongside these visuals was a report stating that the gadget could be officially revealed later this month – and we’re also beginning to observe additional signs that a nearby announcement may be forthcoming.

First off, during this week’s unveiling of Gears of War: Reloaded, Microsoft officially identified the game’s Windows launch as ‘Xbox PC‘ – a term we haven’t previously witnessed. This could simply be a marketing shift, but the timing is certainly intriguing – especially as some speculate a June launch for this Windows-powered handheld console, based on prior ASUS ROG Ally releases. Will this new handheld be called an Xbox PC? We might soon discover the answer.

We are also noticing other, more apparent indicators that support the existence of this device being real and on the horizon. The Verge’s Tom Warren recently disclosed that the Xbox app on PC now showcases a clock, Wi-Fi details, and battery status when in compact mode – all of which would be particularly beneficial for a handheld console. A user has subsequently highlighted a variety of Ubisoft titles that have just appeared on the Windows PC storefront, available for purchase directly from Microsoft for the first occasion.

While none of these directly confirm the forthcoming nature of an Xbox handheld device, together they certainly suggest its potential existence – especially in light of the leaked report and accompanying images earlier today. It seems we shouldn’t have to wait much longer for this Xbox handheld console’s confirmation; it’s expected to be announced at Computex 2025, scheduled for the week of May 19th.

Are we about to see this device very soon, PXers? Share your thoughts about the Xbox handheld below.
