Are you on the lookout for complimentary games to enjoy on Xbox this weekend? Thankfully, we have some free betas ready for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S users, including one that’s available later today—so you’ll have to be prompt!
The upcoming Xbox Game Pass title Rematch is the first of these Xbox betas, featuring a “limited tech test” that will literally occur for just four hours today. The Rematch beta starts at 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 5pm BST and concludes at 1pm PDT / 5pm EDT / 9pm BST (on May 9th), lasting about as long as two actual football games!
If you happen to miss this one, Rematch will also host a closed beta at the month’s end.
The second free beta for Xbox is Wildgate, a PvP multiplayer shooter being crafted by Moonshot Games, comprised of several former Blizzard staff. The free Xbox beta for Wildgate kicks off today (May 9th) at 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 5pm BST, continuing until Monday, May 12th at 5pm PDT / 8pm EDT / 1am BST.
To engage in either of these free Xbox betas, you’ll need to find the Xbox Insider Hub app on your console, navigate to the “Previews” section, and you’ll see both games listed there (unless they have expired or reached their player limits). Space is limited, so be sure to “Join” them while there’s still time!
Lastly, we’d like to highlight Wizard101, which has been in development for an Xbox version for some time, and it’s suddenly available just ahead of the weekend! Feel free to try the “Game Preview” version (akin to a beta or early access version) on your Xbox console right now at no cost.
This beloved MMORPG from the 2000s is anticipated to exit “Game Preview” status eventually, and being a free-to-play game, it doesn’t appear that it will expire or vanish from the Xbox Store anytime soon.
