Xbox Is Adding Three New Ways To Personalise Your Console’s Home Screen

Being rolled out now to select Xbox Insiders

It has been revealed today that the home interface of your Xbox console will soon feature three new customization options, with two of them currently being launched for Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead Xbox Insiders this week.

Xbox representatives state that this update is a direct response to user feedback:

“We’ve heard from many of you that Home should feel more like your own space. Whether it’s showcasing your favorite games, concealing what you don’t use, or simply making Home less cluttered, this update is a direct reply to that input.”

Starting this week, select Xbox Insiders will now be able to hide system applications (like Netflix, Microsoft Edge, etc.) on the console’s home screen, alongside the ability to pin up to three favorite games permanently to the home screen.

In the near future, you will also have the capability to minimize the number of tiles displayed in the recently accessed games and applications list. This will help you to view more of the background and ultimately “simplify” the look of the dashboard.

Here’s exactly how Microsoft elaborates on these three customization features on their website:

  • Conceal System Apps – Looking for a cleaner perspective focused on your games and entertainment? You can now hide system apps from the recently played games and applications list on Home, reducing clutter and concentrating on what is most important to you.
  • Pin Favorites to Home – Now you can pin up to three of your recently accessed games or apps directly to the recently played list. These pins will remain at the forefront as you launch new items, offering quick access to your preferred titles.
  • Minimize Tile Count (Coming Soon!) – Prefer a more streamlined appearance? This option enables you to decrease the number of visible tiles in the recently played games and apps list, simplifying your Home and highlighting only what’s essential. We’re still perfecting this option, and it will be available soon.

There’s currently no announcement regarding when these features will become available to all Xbox users, but we anticipate it will happen in the coming weeks. Prior to that, they will likely be rolled out gradually to all tiers of Xbox Insiders.
