Xbox Exec Talks Game Pass And Suggests Developer Enthusiasm Hasn’t Wavered For It
Indeed, the service is more determined than ever at this moment
This year has been quite ambitious for Xbox Game Pass in 2025, featuring numerous remarkable games joining the service over the last 11 months, and it plans to offer another fantastic lineup of titles in 2026 as well.
In fact, Microsoft is guaranteeing over 75 “day one” titles on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate each year moving forward, which is a significant advancement compared to what we have experienced thus far – representing an approximate 50% increase overall.
Considering that, they’re going to require a plethora of developers and publishers to stay engaged. Fortunately, it seems that is the scenario, as conveyed by the Xbox GM of Portfolio and Programmes (Chris Charla) in a recent discussion.
Chris, renowned mainly for his involvement with the ID@Xbox initiative, remarked during an interview with GameReactor that “enthusiasm among game developers for Game Pass has never diminished,” and the fact that numerous developers are coming back for their second, third, or even seventh titles on the service indicates that Team Xbox is on the right track.
GameReactor: “So, what feedback are you receiving from studios engaging with you at ID@Xbox regarding the opportunity to be [on Game Pass]? Has there been any change in the past year? Also, with new pricing in place, do you believe this will influence them, or what are their sentiments on that?”
Chris: “Well, I believe the enthusiasm among game developers for Game Pass has never diminished, right? And, you know, when developers are returning to us to create a second game, a third game, a seventh game, you know, on Game Pass, that clearly indicates that we’re on the right path. Additionally, when we observe players enjoying and appreciating all the amazing titles available on Game Pass, it makes us feel wonderful.”
To be fair, we have encountered fragments of dissatisfaction concerning Xbox Game Pass over the years and how it might be a detrimental deal for developers and even gamers, but we have also heard how it has proven to be a significant advantage for other creators and publishers, particularly in the independent sector. It’s quite accurate that some publishers have continuously placed their titles on Game Pass as “day one” releases to the extent that practically their entire catalog is available there!
Moreover, that figure of over 75 “day one” titles each year implies that numerous developers are aligned with Xbox Game Pass heading into 2026, which is poised to greatly benefit subscribers. We have already witnessed multiple Game of the Year contenders joining XGP in 2025 alone, and we anticipate many more to appear on the service next year.
Is it worth the expense now that prices have increased? That’s a completely different query, but you can be sure that Team Xbox will be diligently working to provide as many quality titles to Xbox Game Pass throughout the upcoming year.
