Xbox Dev MachineGames Hints At Wolfenstein 3 Following Indiana Jones DLC

“Wolfenstein isn’t finished with us yet”

Prior to devoting several years to crafting Indiana Jones and its fresh add-on The Order of Giants, the Swedish outfit teamed up with Bethesda to reboot Wolfenstein – and it now appears that a third chapter in their Wolfenstein saga could land once this month’s Indy expansion is out.

During a fresh documentary covering MachineGames’ Wolfenstein catalogue, studio boss Jerk Gustafsson revealed the team has always viewed the narrative as a trilogy – only two instalments of which have shipped so far in The New Order and The New Colossus (The Old Blood was a spin-off expansion). Here’s the moment they voiced interest in capping the series with a final entry:

“From day one we treated this as a three-part tale […] BJ’s arc, even back in the earliest id brainstorming sessions while plotting New Order, already outlined what would unfold in chapter two and where we’d leave him in chapter three.

I’d stress that because—fingers crossed—we’re not ready to close the book on Wolfenstein. There’s still a narrative we need to finish.”

Judging by Gustafsson’s parting remark, MachineGames may not have locked in its next move once Indiana Jones and its DLC wrap – yet the internal drive to deliver ‘Wolfenstein 3’ is clearly alive. Here’s hoping it arrives sooner rather than later – we adored MachineGames’ take on the series, standalone side-story included.

Of course, this is far from a done deal. Beyond Microsoft and Bethesda needing to approve such a sequel, whispers suggest Disney executives are keen for additional Indiana Jones content after The Great Circle’s strong reception. So we’ll be watching to see where MachineGames heads next!
