Exactly seven days following DOOM: The Dark Ages‘ early access debut, Xbox and Bethesda have revealed a significant player milestone for the id Software FPS – which has now become the “largest launch” in the studio’s history.
One week post the game’s first release, DOOM: The Dark Ages has now reached three million players across all platforms. According to publisher Bethesda, the game achieved this milestone 7x swifter than 2020’s DOOM Eternal – the previous title from id Software.
As evident in the post above, this now positions The Dark Ages as id’s largest launch regarding pure player numbers in the first week – although being featured in Xbox Game Pass on its launch day certainly contributed to the latest DOOM installment achieving this milestone within such a brief time.
Regardless, we would like to offer our congratulations to the now-Xbox first party team that developed DOOM: The Dark Ages, and we hope it continues to thrive in the coming years. After ripping and tearing for quite some time during our review playtime, we’re all set to dive back in and commence some more doom slaying right about now.
