Bethesda has had a chance to reminisce after it unexpectedly released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered last month, collaborating with Virtuos.
As part of this nostalgic return, they have unveiled a “then and now” video response to that well-known documentary from 2006. You know the one featuring Todd Howard and his memorable line about participating in the chess club.
Putting humor aside, it is quite remarkable to observe the transformation of Bethesda over the years. As Pete Hines observes, the “number of individuals” present while viewing this documentary nearly comprised “the entire company” during the making of Oblivion, which felt like a “small, cohesive team”.
Howard confesses that it was a bit uncomfortable rewatching this documentary after two decades, but he expresses immense gratitude toward the entire team responsible for crafting a game “that continues to endure”. You can view the full narrative above.
